In 1989, on the remote Scottish isle of Arran, Janet Russell, with the help of her husband, Iain, set to work manufacturing soap and body creams inspired by the island that surrounded them. At first, their work took place in the kitchen of their island cottage, but over the twenty-five years that followed, their enterprise expanded to become a name renowned all over Scotland and beyond.
On these pages you’ll find the fruits of their efforts: host of aromatics you’re sure to find dazzling. Included here is the After the Rain selection, which Janet devised in the year 2000, after being inspired by that intangible garden freshness which comes in the moments that follow summer rain. It brings together the scents of rose, musk and citrus, and comprises an enriching soap, hand soother and wash, as well as a tub of butter.
